Purpose and goal
The purpose of the planning project was to prepare an application for a project regarding a uniform system for source-separation of waste in urban areas. Such an application has been prepared with respect to the call ´VINNOVA FRÖN Utveckling´. The long-term purpose of the project is to create a system which makes it easier for people to source-separate waste in urban areas regardless of which municipality they belong to.
Results and expected effects
The benefit of the project are the preparatory activities undertaken in order to develop a uniform system for source-separation of waste in urban areas. Such a system is supposed to contribute to a higher rate of source-separation of waste, increased recycling rates and thus to a more sustainable society. The establishment of such bins for recycling in urban areas is also expected to contribute to a reduction of littering.
Approach and implementation
The project team has agreed on a plan for a further development of a uniform system for source-separation of waste in urban areas. By brainstorming and discussions, the project team has also agreed on a number of factors that are considered important for designing such a system. A reference group has been established and their views on the project has been obtained. The project team has also compiled knowledge from existing systems for source-separation in urban areas in Swedish municipalities.
