Important results from the project

Juteborg, the leading Jute based innovation company from Västra Götaland region, owns the idea, know how and recipes of jute-based innovations & composites. They are also transforming the value chain with F2F (Farmer to Factory Jute Supply Chain) project. Measures like NDA, agreements are being used to manage all the intangible assets. However, absence of an IP strategy kept the company high risk exposed. Thus by forming a comprehensive IP right management strategy of the Jute based innovations reduces the risk exposure to a great extent which is the aim of this project.

Expected long term effects

Forming a comprehensive IP strategy is the main result of the project. This IP strategy will support the company to continue developing its business internationally by minimizing the risks related to IP protection of existing and future jute-based innovations and products. As the outcome of the project, Juteborg has already started implementing the strategy in its business operations. For example, incorporation of the trademark () sign to its products and projects in internal and external communication. The IP strategy is crucial for the upcoming Joint Venture business operation.

Approach and implementation

As per the project plan a written IP strategy and action plan has been produced. The strategy includes the followings: 1.IP strategy for Juteborg’s existing and future products. 2.IP rights which are protectable through registration and other actions plans for complete IP protection. 3.Guidelines of the IP rights of development, innovation, products, services, ownership and usage. 4.Process of deciding the IP protection 5.Market prioritisation for IP protection and novelty search and relevant action plan 6.IP protection analysis of the competitors 7.Yearly review of IP strategy
