Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration February 2018 - July 2018
Status Completed

Important results from the project

RISE has investigated the possibility of taking over all or parts of SWETOX / ETV. The aim was to generate material (due diligence and a business plan), a plan forward and external financing of the predicted deficit of 30MSEK, the first 3 years. A supportive decision by RISE governing board has been achieved.

Expected long term effects

By delivering toxicological risk assessment of new chemicals, materials and drug candidates, RISE will contribute to the increasing need of industry for these analyses as well as the competitiveness of the Swedish life science industry, by investing in infrastructure for future needs. In addition, this will also contribute to the global goals for sustainable development.

Approach and implementation

A due diligence of the operations at Swetox Gärtuna has been performed. A business plan has been produced for the next 4 years ahead. The conclusion is that the operations at Swetox infrastructure could fit into RISE organization. It would complement the present offer by RISE and there are good possibilities for synergy, and it would address the growing need for toxicological risk assessments from a wide range of industrial and academic target groups.
