Important results from the project
The project’s objective was to create a strong Swedish consortium and to craft two RDI-proposals (one smaller and one larger) directed to EU H2020, ECSEL or Vinnova. The project successfully crafted a smaller proposal directed to SIP PiiA, but the proposal was unfortunately not submitted due to that two project partners left the consortium the day before deadline. Regarding the larger proposal, it is directed towards ECSEL and the first stage has been cleared and the consortium now continues towards submitting the second step (i.e. full proposal) by 20th of September.
Expected long term effects
The project has built a Swedish consortium and connected it into an international consortium (with VTT in Finland as lead). A smaller RDI-proposal has been crafted but unfortunately not been submitted due to partner withdrawal. The work from the small proposal has been used in the larger proposal, where Sweden looks to get a strong and innovative context with both industrial relevance and academic progress. In addition, an academic publication has been crafted/submitted to an academic conference (http://www.tesconf.uni-bremen.de/), which will strengthen future applications.
Approach and implementation
Initially, the project made a foundational work with the purpose to build a consortium of needed partners/competences as well as developed a text describing the intelligent rock bolts, how they can be used, and what is needed to be innovated/developed/researched in order for them to become leading on the global market. Subsequently, a smaller RDI-proposal was crafted directed to SIP PiiA and the Swedish consortium now continues the work to craft and finalize the larger proposal directed to ECSEL (i.e. we continue after this project’s end) and will submit the full proposal at 20-Sep 2017.
