Important results from the project
The overall objective of the project was to create cost-effectiveness in healthcare. During the project, we have used an optimisation model designed to better plan and schedule surgeries and staff. We have made adjustments to the mathematical model in the project and after workshops and tests we could better adapt it to Danderyd Hospitals need and the tool has also been adapted to be integrated to existing systems. We have not yet been able to verify new work processes as delays in the project have occurred.
Expected long term effects
By working according to new mathematical models and adapted processes, we have been able to verify shortening of turnover times by 11% and create 7% more effective surgery room utilisation. Staff have been able to go home 1 hour and 10 minutes earlier, mixed between staff. Doctors have not had shorter working hours. Customisation to the optimisation services has been adapted to Orbit surgery planning tool.
Approach and implementation
The project has been led by Olof Sköldenberg and adjustments to GDPR and related agreements have been implemented. The service has developed an API for integration with other tools as well as its own graphical interface, since integration through SLL has taken longer than expected. The model is adapted to the Orbit Integration Service. Processes to ensure GDPR has been established.
