Important results from the project
APR expands its core technology to the e-vehicle market. The long term goal is to develop a highly efficient thermal management battery system with the aim to enhance life, improve reach, maximize energy density and safety. APR´s business model includes three alternative routes: supplier of technology, components or battery systems. All project objectives, including the main goal, to develop a prototype-like module to TRL 3, has been reached. In the next step APR plan to demonstrate a protype with enhanced performance and TRL 6. Financing is secured. The market evolves fast.
Expected long term effects
Successful project where two test modules, including one prototype-like, have been built and evaluated. The prototype-like one shows an effect of 4.8kW, energy density of 180 kW/kg, tested at 3C and includes BMS. In the next step we will develop a prototype with enhanced performance and TRL 6. We now start planning for industrialization and look for financing. So far, we discuss with many players and deliberately has avoided to partner up with one specific. The present plan includes bus, truck, marine and mining vehicles, where the volumes are intermediate and therefore easier to handle.
Approach and implementation
AP 1 Administration: Continuously throughout the project. AP 2 Networking: Discussions with Swedish players. Participation in international conferences. AP 3 Security: Active in SIS TK 715 in order to keep being updated with standards and regulations for e-vehicles. Materials compatibility and risk for toxic gas has been analyzed. AP 4 Test: Test equipment and software has been purchased. Fast charging of LFP and NCA cells have been performed with interesting results. Different dielectric liquids have been evaluated. AP 5 Prototype: Two test modules have been built, and tested
