Important results from the project
The project ‘Integrated AI Diagnostics’ (I-AID) has had as its overall purpose to accelerate the use of AI in Healthcare, this by putting healthcare in the driver´s seat and, by using innovation procurement as a tool, establishing effective collaboration between internal and external cutting-edge expertise. Three pilot projects have been run based on real identified clinical needs. The projects have highlighted and addressed challenges on the road to the final implementation of regulatory-approved AI decision support in clinical operations.
Expected long term effects
The project has resulted in: a process for clinical needs identification; three innovation procurements and an efficient process; a new business model for collaboration between healthcare and industry; IT infrastructure for the dev and ops of AI; est of a quality-assured policy / legal process for data management; and laid the foundation for a structure to continuously support the development and implementation of AI in healthcare. The project has been presented in multiple contexts both internally and externally, which has contributed to national and international interest.
Approach and implementation
The project has involved all key departments within the Healthcare organization: clinical need owners; IT; leagal; communication; innovation; procurement; as well as key players in the life science sector, industry and academia. The project´s activities have been conducted within specific work packages - IT, policy, procurement, Communication - as well as real clinical pilot projects. Through the pilot projects, challenges and needs within each work package have been exposed and addressed and all activities have been connected to the true need of the organization.
