Important results from the project
Planned aims and objectives have been fulfilled as regards the activities that the application has been approved for where the most important is to analyse the market potential and conditions for commercialisation for prefabricated sections. The examination of the market potential is focusing on homes in apartment blocks in the first instance while the conditions for commercialisation are focusing on the construction of concept buildings for the construction of homes in the first instance. With regard to the total market volume, this is calculated only for separating floors.
Expected long term effects
The expected floor area (useable floor area) that ´industrial timber builders´ produce is 307 000 m2 each year. In terms of cost, the innovative joist, ByggSus, is competitive alongside traditionally-built floor joists. It can be ascertained that ByggSus is cheaper than the most common light floor joists using lightweight construction but more expensive than the concrete alternative. ByggSus will clearly generate the quickest building method. ByggSus also has the characteristic that it can be made room-width for normal room sizes.
Approach and implementation
Four main sources have been used to analyse: ´The value for the world, Consequences of an increase in industrial timber construction´, Tomas Nord et al. ´Find statistics´ from Statistics Sweden´s website, http://www.scb.se/sv ´Section data´ version 4.15 from Wikells AB (the latest version) http://www.boverket.se/Bygga--forvalta/CE-markning-och-marknadskontroll/ The reference values for material expenses and working hours were obtained from Sektionsdata. In order not to overestimate the share of inbuilt products, the level of inbuilt HS parts was set as low as 7.5%.
