Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose was to make regional development in the Kingdom of Crystal possible by making a plan for innovative remediation, making a sustainability analysis and a communication strategy. The project has highly fulfilled its purposes. Innovative remediation is partly technology for recycling of metals and glass from glassworks, partly new cooperative work between authorities. Discussions at workshops have dealt with technology issues and procurement and as a result, innovative remediation is now the premiss for remediation, which means that all resources can be reused.

Expected results and effects

Innovative remediation will henceforth be one premiss for remediation in the Kingdom of Crystal. A separate organization for remediation, preferentially municipal is needed. One prerequisite for effective processes is coordination of procurements, transports, landfill sites, intermediate storage and sorting. Coordinated by Chalmers, a sustainability analysis has been done. It shows that innovative remediation has more positive effects than traditional remediation and that long transports should be avoided.

Planned approach and implementation

Cooperation is a key to success, as are also the regular meetings where all the actors meet together. All project partners are important for this project and will consequently be needed in future work. In the coming work, operators and land owners should also be involved. Many organizations and professions take part in this project and despite the communication activities made, more communication would have been needed. The project has gradually aimed more at the municipalities as the issue of a new organization has proved more important.
