Project duration November 2014 - June 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Yolean has evaluated the possibility to design digital knowledge management tools based on Lean principles . The project has been very successful and a market launch of the product ´Digital Check Sheets´ is plausible in the autumn of 2015. In the research It has been shown to be very important to focus on reuse of knowledge. Documenting knowledge is not the main goal, but it is in the reuse of knowledge where benefits are realized. Our software supports and encourages the knowledge reuse process.

Results and expected effects

It has been shown that the right focus in the knowledge management process has great potential to completely change our view of knowledge in the company. It connects to raising focus from general ´textbook knowledge´ to company-specific knowledge, i.e. to how we design products and services in our company. Finding this thin slice of knowledge also makes it easier to manage and secure reuse. The expected impact of the company is therefore, less failures , and longer time between failure. In addition the tool support makes it easier to follow up on errors when they occur.

Approach and implementation

The project was executed with an iterative method and recurring, integrated customer involvement. This approach has led to quick knowledge-generating loops which also resulted in a better requirements on the product. The implementation has worked well and the results have exceeded expectations . We have been able to interact deeply with 4 independent, potential customers and have therefore had the opportunity to build a generic software prototype with high potential to serve our customers with their step towards digital and Lean knowledge management.
