Purpose and goal
The project´s aim was to link innovation research to innovation policies, emphasizing the Swedish innovation system, and to disseminate state of the art knowledge in this area. These criteria were achieved as the conference keynote speaker, Professor Mariana Mazzucato, presented her reserach on the relationship between financial markets, innovation and economic growth. Other participants included Tobias Krantz, Ola Pettersson and Maria Ludvigsson, who provided comments on Professor Mazzucato´s speech.
Results and expected effects
The conference implied that more profound knowledge regarding the relationship between private and public actors in the innovation process was communicated to decision-makers in the Swedish innovation system. The quality of the conference must be considered high, with very knowleadgeable participants and an audience of about 100 individuals. As the conference also was web aired, the content reached out to an even larger audience. The conference mediated policy-relevant knowledge to decision makers in the right areas.
Approach and implementation
The main preparations consisted of setting up a conference program, invite speakers and commentators, quality checks, and arranging a suitable venue and moderator. This was done by employees at the Swedish Entrepreneurship Forum, partly in collaboration with Vinnova. The date of the conference was set to September 30. Oveall the conference turned out to be quite successful. Staff from the Swedish Entrepreneurship Forum took care of more adminstrative matters (registration, documentation, travelling arrangements, etc). Vinnova arranged so that the conference was web aired.
