Important results from the project
In the Innovation Pilots innovation management research, and students as change agents, are used in order to increase innovation capability in organizations. Goals were to make Innovation Pilot tasks in organizations, and to further develop the Innovations Pilot model in a number of areas. Tasks were performed in 13 organizations, by 24 students, coached by innovation management researchers. The tool for innovation capability screening, cluster tasks, and an additional university were examples of development areas. Proposals for the future of Innovation Piltos were identified.
Expected long term effects
An important result is that substantial and systematic work has been performed regarding innovation management and innovation capabilities within organization in Sweden. Important effects are that knowledge and experience transitions have taken place in several directions: organizations has assimilated innovation management research in the same time as students (close to their graduation) have gotten valuable experiences of innovation management work and real project work.
Approach and implementation
The project has been a collaboration between a number of universities, supported by a central coordination. The network of nodes has been a strength since it has given broader access to researchers, students, organizations, competences, experiences and contacts. A central coordination has been needed in order to fully use the strength of the network. The project timing has been to a great extent directed by the fact that the student perform their tasks during the summer which in turn also puts demands on a coordination of the progress.
