Purpose and goal

An overall aim of this project is to capture and summarize the complex innovation process in the form of robust indicators. The evidence suggests that complexity increases with the growing needs of knowledge, specialization and cooperation. A strong impetus to this development is the pace of technological developments. Therefore, factors such as research and development are at the hart of our study of innovation indicators.

Expected results and effects

In this study we have shown that there are a number of characteristics of the economy that are of particular importance as innovation indicators at the micro level. We have also shown a significant presence of heterogeneity between companies and even between regions. That means robust and meaningful innovation indicators should capture the characteristics that are systematic throughout the economy as well as the variation between companies and locations.

Planned approach and implementation

In a one of the studies within this project, we analyze two different overall indicators of competitiveness of the company. It´s innovation strategy and geographic location. We also examine the combined effect of these two. Another part of the project is studying innovation strategies, but this case combined with presence in various global markets. We also study the spin-offs from established companies as an innovation indicator. The project also presents a principal component approach to reduce the number of explanatory variables to email innovative activities and its results.
