Project duration November 2013 - July 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project goal was to compile existing knowledge, to carry out awareness-raising research and disseminate knowledge in order to increase the ability to exploit the potential for environmental improvements and cost savings. The results have been presented in 5 scientific articles and at 3 conferences. The industrial relevance has been secured through an interactive knowledge transfer in joint workshops and seminars and by active industry involvement in the collection of empirical data. Main results has been made publically available through Youtube videos.

Expected results and effects

The existing knowledge has been analyzed and reported as a scientific literature review. The project has contributed to completing three Ph.D.´s in 2016. A model for how companies can work to increase the load factor performance was developed in cooperation with the organizations. This, combined with the findings from the research has given the participating companies greater knowledge and a tool to help them work on the issue in a structured way. The model is published in one of the articles. 3 videos have been produced based on the findings and made publicly available on Youtube.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been carried out according to the project plan: 1. Initial analysis of the state-of-the-art and the need for research to fill the knowledge gap. 2. A series of workshops to define the research questions and industrial needs, and how the results can be implemented in the industry. 3. Three research projects for knowledge development (Ph.D.). 4. Knowledge dissemination and training activities. Analytical methods that primarily have been used in the project are: literature analysis, interviews and case study based analyses, defined with the participating companies.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
