Purpose and goal

The objectives were to - produce a strategic agenda - establish a consesus about a more-efficient innovation process - form a basis for ´Forest Technology Academy´ - propose a strategic innovation program The objectives were well met, in the sense that all four items listed above were complied.

Results and expected effects

A common agenda was produced. This agenda consitutes a part of a larger entity, which has been submitted together with an application to Vinnova concerning a Strategic Innovation Area (SIO). Expected benefits include a commonly agreed vision and objectives for research and innovation among the stakeholders. Each stakeholder can benefit from the agenda in future work (projects, applications, strategy work etc). In addition, the agenda could be communicated to partners outside the traditional sectors.

Approach and implementation

A steering committee was formed. A kick-off was carried out on Sep 28, gathering 60+ participants from the stakeholder categories involved. A ´writing group´ continued with the actual writing of the agenda. Contacts were established with other agendas, also financed by Vinnova. The collaboration resulted in that 10 agendas joined in the common ´A bio-based economy - A strategic research and innovation agenda for new businesses focusing on renewable resources´. The concluding meeting was held Feb 5, 2013. Our part of the agenda has cross-sectorial connections to c. 5 other agendas.
