Purpose and goal

The goal of the project was to find a process solution for the alternative stabilization of carbon fiber which we develop a process for laminating a veil of reinforcement which met. Oxeon has through the project broadened its product range and entered new market segments. Further it has helped our customers to improve their products through improved properties such as mechanical performance, impact resistance, drapability, infusability and reduced weight.

Expected results and effects

The project has resulted in a reinforcing solution that can be impregnated in solvent based processes. This has been the project´s main objectives and project results will provide Oxeon opportunity to increase its market share in the aerospace segment. In addition, we have identified a number of additional customer benefits. We and our customers have been able to prove the benefits of their applications in a variety of projects. This has during the project led to orders from a customer in the sports segment and test orders to customers within the aerospace and industry.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been implemented in 7 work packages over a 24 month period. The work methodology with the steering committee, project teams and dedicated operators who have worked with the new process has been successful. The work packages have been implemented in the planned order and we have kept to time schedule and budget according to plan. Cooperation with our partners Reliant has been successfully and together we have been able to solve many technical problems arising in the various work packages.
