Coordinator Luleå tekniska universitet - Institutionen för samhällsbyggnad och naturresurser
Funding from Vinnova SEK 4 007 876
Project duration August 2008 - August 2012
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim and objective is to study, develop, test and evaluate suitable measurement methods for the wear of liner material and cracks in machinery in order to increase competence concerning measurements of reliable data for prognostics. An additional aim is to utilize these data and the theoretical modelling of wear and cracks to produce suitable methods for the prognostics of optimum service intervals and for the possible increase of loads with increased productivity.

Expected results and effects

A collection of suitable measurement methods for measuring the wear of mill liner material etc, and cracks in machinery. Usable models for the prognostics of optimum service intervals for mill liner material etc, and cracks in machinery. A map of production losses due to wear- and crack-related failures of mining systems and sub-systems through mining process mapping, data analysis, discussions, and seminars/workshops held with the industrial partners Boliden Mineral AB, LKAB, Ringhals AB and Metso Mineral AB.

Planned approach and implementation

The project results will be implemented at Boliden Mineral, LKAB , Metso and Ringhals AB by means of arranging courses with relevant personnel at the companies. This will be performed within the C-MIS organization
