Implementation of BoB standardisation for Västtrafik

Reference number
Coordinator Västtrafik AB - CENTRALHUSET
Funding from Vinnova SEK 905 401
Project duration November 2017 - December 2018
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Västtrafik is working towards the increased sustainable mobility, as part of this, we want to make tickets available for more and new types of collaboration. The aim of the project was to enable Public Transport tickets in a non-Västtrafik app. The objective was met by the pilot conducted in collaboration with Göteborgs Stadsparkering. During a test period, selected drivers who used the app ´ParkeringGöteborg´ to pay their parking were also allowed to try to purchase their public transport ticket in the same app.

Expected results and effects

Positive results of tests where third party operators integrate with Västtrafik´s technical environment according to BoB standard (ticket and Product API). Tickets have been digitally sent in back-end between Västtrafik and Göteborgs Stads Parkering, visible in the app and validated by Västtrafik´s ticket control equipment. The effect is that in the long term, digital sales of Västtrafik tickets will be possible with other actors as part of combined mobility service. This benefits the customer who can buy tickets from other suppliers and contributes to sustainable travel

Planned approach and implementation

Technical integration was carried out in iterations according to agile working methods and in cooperation between Västtrafik, Göteborg Stad Parking Company and Samtrafiken. Technical deliveries were planned to be in controlled implementation phases and a selection of constant products were tested in the first part of the project and after that dynamic products. Business model has been continuously developed and a draft of Reseller agreements has been developed
