IEC IMAGIC Year 4-6

Reference number
Coordinator ACREO SWEDISH ICT AB - Acreo Swedish ICT AB, Kista
Funding from Vinnova SEK 14 900 000
Project duration January 2010 - March 2013
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Aim: The development and realisation of next-generation digital imaging systems for non-visible wavelengths (IR, UV, X-ray). Such type of imaging give information on e. g. temperature distribution and chemical composition. Night vision is also an important application. Goals: *Development of imaging system prototypes *Development of key components: detector and modulator arrays *R&D on novel detector materials *New device processing methods *Design of readout electronics

Results and expected effects

IMAGIC should promote growth for the participating companies, based on unique research competence *At least three of the system prototypes developed within IMAGIC should be concluded to have commercial potential (5 years after IMAGIC startup)

Approach and implementation

An ´Institute Excellence Centre´ where the research institute Acreo, about ten industry partners, and the universitites KTH and LiTH cooperate. Consists of a generic project: ´Key technologies, generic research´, and several larger technology projects e. g. uncooled infrared for automotive applications, high performance IR, etc. Key technologies, generic research includes material technology (especially for quantum structured materials) and new process technologies based on micro- and nanoelectronics. In addition, there is a communication project for IMAGIC conferences, dissemination of R&D results, web page, etc (internally i. e. among the IMAGIC partners, and externally).

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
