Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The purpose of the project has been to get more people with disabilities to get involved in physical activity and sports together, by increasing collaboration between different societal actors (in the non-profit, public and private sector). The project has created models of cooperation for two areas: 1) accessibility at sports facilities and 2) a mentorship program for children and young people with disabilities.

Expected results and effects

The project has created cooperation models between sports clubs and municipalital organisations in three different municipalities. The collaboration model is believed to be useable in other cooperation activities as well, in addition to the two actions done in the project (accessibility and mentorship). The project has also identified a great interest to develop in the area of accessibility and inclusion, since the projects has attracted the attention of many external actors (including businesses, municipalities, academia and other collaborative networks)

Planned approach and implementation

The project focused on strengthening collaboration between the non-profit sector, municipalities, academia and business, to identify solutions that are only made visible when these actors collaborate. By coordinating the parasport´s network and target group knowledge with municipal resources and established activities, new solutions were identified to reach more people with disabilities in local leisure activities. Academia and civil society, among others, also contributed to increased effects. The collaboration model created more accessible and inclusive activities.
