HIT - Hydrogen Infrastructure for Transport

Reference number
Coordinator Vätgas Sverige Ideell Förening
Funding from Vinnova SEK 300 000
Project duration June 2013 - June 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

In a broad process with Swedish stakeholders, a fact-based study on hydrogen as vehicle fuel has been developed, proposing an implementation plan for establishing the hydrogen infrastructure in Sweden until 2020.

Results and expected effects

The Swedish part of the EU TEN-T project HIT have met the need of factual knowledge and specific data on hydrogen as a vehicle fuel in Sweden. The analysis covers hydrogen´s pros and cons with respect to climate, environment, economy, business and job creation, given the specific factors we have in Sweden (energy, infrastructure, regulations, purchasing power, etc.). An updated documentation and plan of this kind has been lacking until now. The results provide Swedish authorities and private actors means to reach well-founded decisions and lay more realistic plans.

Approach and implementation

- Project Manager for HIT was the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment. - Other partners were from France, Denmark and Sweden. - Hydrogen Sweden was the formal Swedish partner. - The Swedish Transport Administration was the national authority endorsing the project. - Sweco was project manager for the Swedish part. - Thirty national partners from companies, institutions and agencies were involved in the Swedish part. - Via five workshops, we interacted with the partners and captured their specific questions, comments and suggestions in a successful and effective way.
