Project duration | May 2012 - June 2014 |
Status | Completed |
Purpose and goal
The goal of the project was to develop the world´s most accurate wheel damage detection system for moving trains. During the project, AMTAB has achieved the first three milestones of the project: M1 - Define the optimal DSP algorithm for wheel damage detection, M2 - initial implementation of the optimal DSP algorithm into AMTAB´s system, M3 initial testing of the algorithm.
Results and expected effects
AMTAB has failed to complete the project due to the sharp economic downturn that affected the company during the project. There are no employees left in AMTAB at present, and the Board has advanced discussions with a number of candidates who have shown interest in acquiring AMTAB and the company´s technology. Among these, there are companies working with wheel damage detection systems. Thus, it is likely that the technology will be completed by the buyer.
Approach and implementation
Initially, the project has been implemented according to the timetable presented in the application. Afterwards, the project has been delayed due the problems that affected AMTAB as a result of the economic downturn in the world economy. AMTAB has experienced a very tough period with declining sales, frozen projects and deferred investments of strategic customers. As a result, the company has not managed to complete the project.
