Purpose and goal

The starting point, to create a prototype of a digital learning resource with access to national mapping data from different agencies have been fully achieved. By involving teachers, municipalities and authorities in the process of drafting the Geoskolan been widely adopted and adapted based on real needs. Geoskolan established and future financing, operations and development has been assessed and ensured, which means that the development work has continued with direct access to the Vinnova project completed.

Results and expected effects

Prototype, integrated in the schools´ digital environment, and tested by teachers, is established. Access to the digital map data in Geoskolan is realized. First lesson packages for secondary schools developed by teachers of geography and history, is completed. First lesson packages for elementary school, high school, compiled by specialized consultants and educators, are completed. Funding for continued development, operation and management is ensured.

Approach and implementation

Development of the technical environment and lesson materials has occurred in parallel which meant that testing has been conducted in a dummy environment. Instead of thie initial ide of Minecraft, a separate lesson materials based on maps in geoskolan was made. However, Lantmäteriet has chosen to proceed the Minecraft ideas parallel to the Project, allowing these investments toward digital school to reinforce each other. Overall, Geoskolan contributed to the conclusion that authorities further strengthened their interest towards the school and stimulated further projects.
