Future cross-border research leader in functional nano-surfaces

Reference number
Coordinator SP SVERIGES TEKNISKA FORSKNINGSINSTITUT AB - Elektronik
Funding from Vinnova SEK 1 118 430
Project duration January 2014 - August 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The project goal was to develop more knowledge on functional nanocoatings. The scientific project focused on photocatalytic nanocomposite coatings. The challenge was to produce coatings with a high content of nanoparticles and to maintain the functionality when incorporated in the metal matrix. An important contribution was the study of the relationship between process parameters, nanostructure, and properties. The career development focused on improving leadership and project management skills.

Results and expected effects

Project was successful and functionalized coating with self-cleaning and antibacterial properties were produced and validated. The gained experience and knowledge are now exploited in a new funded international project about functional nanocomposite coating. The fulfillment of the activity listed in the career development plan lead to the achievement of the Docent title, awarded at the end of the project. As a result the candidate was employed as associate professor by Jönköping University.

Approach and implementation
