Purpose and goal
The purpose of the Functional Prosthesis Socket project is to develop an innovative prosthetic sleeve that provides significantly better comfort experience compared to existing models, while maintaining functionality and stability. The goal is to achieve improvements in both pressure distribution and microclimate between the sleeve and stump. The purpose and goal has partly been fulfilled.
Expected results and effects
The project has been performed in three ´Work Packages´ as below: WP1: Business Development WP2: Product Development WP3: Testing and functional verification The results from the work packages reveal that there is a need and market potential for a future product. We have succeeded in developing a prototype with improved microclimate in comparison with products on the market.
Planned approach and implementation
The project team consists of a unique combination of orthopedic technology expertise from the public sector, leading design and materials research, innovative smart textiles research, as well as entrepreneurs and users from industry.
