Fully integrated and standardized fire suppression system with two-way communicaton for buses and heavy vehicles

Important results from the project

The project aimed to integrate a traditionally externa system, fire suppression, with the serial communication platform of modern vehicles, CAN-bus, to facilitate the transfer and presentation of information and the interaction of the operator through a common interface. The project has resulted in a commercialized product with the appropriate tools like software for easy adaptation to the customers needs.

Expected long term effects

The project has resulted in a product that is now standardized with two manufacturers of heavy-duty vehicles and is currently being implemented with an additional producer. Extensive talks are being carried out with bus manufacturers which also has resulted in a new development project to further facilitate the integration process.

Approach and implementation

The project has followed the initial development plan well and, in some cases, even exceeded initial expectations. Thanks to the fact that we manage to involve vehicle manufacturers in an early prototype stage the final adjustments and production adaptation could be done without unforeseen delays. The product is now under series production.
