Important results from the project
The goal of the project was to develop a physical product demonstrator based on the self-adjusting concept for the heavy truck air deflector. The demonstrator developed in the project met the goal by a wide margin, where the demonstrator is a full-scale air deflector driven by a linear actuator which in turn is controlled by an electronic unit developed from scratch during the project. This electronic unit also logs all engine parameters, and data analysis and control in real time.
Expected long term effects
The project has given us a unique opportunity to develop a demonstrator to prove the technical potential of the solution and thus win our first customer. It has also enabled us to build a unique development methodology where we enabled real-time development of our algorithms.
Approach and implementation
As the allocated grant was lower than the asked budget, we made some changes to the content of the project, to some extent, but have kept all goals! We mainly skipped work package 4, which included simulations of the proposed structure to adjust the air deflector. Today this is to some extent a weakness, having not proven the durability of the structure by simulations, but this will be handled in the near future. All in all, the project was executed in line with the planned arrangements.
