Important results from the project
The county council Sörmland has created a whole new meal system - Fleximat, which meets modern requirements for hospital food. Patients choose themselves when they want to eat. In the department there is access to food throughout the day. A wide menu of main courses, snacks, snacks and desserts is available. All in order to reduce the malnutrition of patients, The meal environment is refreshed and different from the other hospital environment. The meal hosts have received extensive education in diet and nutrition, equivalent to 4.5 HP.
Expected long term effects
1) Well-fed and satisfied patients2) Healthcare must be offered affordable meals.3) Introduced procedures that result in minimal loss4) The meals served should be varied and the range should be broad, focusing on the category of patients attended by the department5) Crew with Meal Hosts should be available during daytime, which means that it is free time for the healthcare staff6) Clear distribution of responsibilities and well-functioning cooperation7) There should be access to any food throughout the day8) The central kitchen must be adapted for intended production
Approach and implementation
The project has undergone some phases.Planning for implementation of Fleximat on pilot department.Where we set up a prescription bank as quality assured, custom department cookie and meal room to fit into the system. Much time was required for training and anchoring of healthcare professionals.The production cookie also introduced a special "production line" for this food.Pilot operations were conducted for 7 months and then evaluated.Planning for expansion has been completed and we are now awaiting rebuilding and adaptation of premises
