Purpose and goal
Objectives: - Achieve necessary improvements of performance, system stability and robustness. - Validation of fuel saving simulations. - Strategies for the interactions between driver and vehicle. - Study driver’s behavior, acceptance and trust as well as needed information. - Study interaction with other traffic. -Harmonization and verification of specifications for main functionality. Besides this algorithms for control of longitudinal and lateral control as well as for power train, HMI and V2V communication been developed. The project has been very successful.
Expected results and effects
The project has been successful and fulfilled its objectives: -Improvements of performance, system stability and robustness have been addressed during development and testing. -Fuel savings has been simulated and verified. -The interaction between driver and vehicle has been studied; driving in simulator as well on road. -Driver behavior including how surrounding traffic behaves has been studied and experience during e.g. European Truck Platoon Challenge. -Drivers need for critical information has been investigated using a HMI that displays the status of the platoon.
Planned approach and implementation
WP1 Project management . WP2 - Use cases and functional safety. WP3 Develop and evaluate HMI concepts. Investigated user/driver needs and requirements. WP4 - Investigate communication between the vehicles and its reliability and update frequency. WP5 Control of vehicle and platoon including string stability and development of algorithms for lateral and longitudinal control. WP6 Verification of concepts and solutions, building systems, verification of technical solutions and algorithms. WP7 Dissemination, publishing and demonstrations of and results.
