Important results from the project
Ascilion, Silex Microsystems and Acreo Swedish ICT have jointly worked together with the transfer of a microneedle design from lab to fab. A first prototype run have successfully been manufactured in Silex´ 8-inch MEMS fab.
Expected long term effects
Ascilion, Silex Microsystems and Acreo Swedish ICT have strengthened the ties between SMEs and research institutes by technology transfer and cooperation with process development. The performed work proves manufacturability on an industrial scale of microneedles that can be used within diagnostic tools.
Approach and implementation
The project was carried out using a classic project management structure and PM tools with Ascilion acting as task owner. The work involved the ordinary startup meeting and specification work. A detailed specification was agreed upon and formed the basis for a re-design of the previous R&D version of the needles and adaptation of the process list to steps appropriate for 8´ structures rather than the previous 4´ structure
