Purpose and goal
The projects aim was to develop a system for personalized mammography, through a cooperation between Sigma Screening, Teledyne Dalsa and Scint-X AB. For this project, Scint-X has developed a tailored scintillator and realized new patents that has significantly increased the performance of the component.
Expected results and effects
Scint-X result is a scintillator with a new refelctor technology that has been developed in close cooperation with manufacturers of production equipment needed for the processing. Due to problems with the purchase of etched silicon, the DQE did not quite reach the levels set out in the project proposal. This would require deeper etched silicon, which is possible to reach after the project end. Other parameters, like size, uniformity and light output, have all reached the expected levels.
Planned approach and implementation
Scint-X has mainly been working toghether with Teledyne Dalsa though joint discussions around specifications, simulations and results. The work has been an iterative process and the contact has been through e-mails, video conferences andd meetings in The Netherlands and Stockholm.Scint-X has also closely cooperated with companies that develops and manufactures equipment for silicon processing, to produce scintillators with high performance and reproducable processes suitable for production.
