Environmentally friendly lighting column of pre-painted steel

Reference number
Coordinator NORTHCONE AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 991 000
Project duration November 2014 - February 2016
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

Northcone AB´s project was aimed at developing and launching lighting columns in pre-painted high-strength steel and consequently offering a product with a low overall environmental impact due to a fast and efficient production process, few process steps and low consumption of materials. The project has signified a major step along the way to attaining this aim, and the company is therefore now planning to proceed with continued product development and production investments.

Expected results and effects

The project has come up with several practical solutions, which have been tested with favorable results. In a next stage, these are to be tested and implemented in full-scale production. In addition, the project has resulted in new knowledge and methods that can be applied in continued development. Two patent applications have been filed for different solutions in principle. The main aim of the project has been largely attained, and the project is considered to have the potential to result in a completely new type of products with desired performance.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has been undertaken in close cooperation with associated companies, suppliers, institutes and expert consultants. As the project has required in-depth skills in several different areas, as well as testing resources that have not been available within the company, it would not have been possible to achieve success in a reasonable time and at reasonable cost without the cooperation.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
