Reference number
Coordinator SHT Smart High-Tech Aktiebolag
Funding from Vinnova SEK 920 000
Project duration March 2011 - February 2015
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The NANOTEG project aims to develop 1) nanostructured TE materials that are highly efficient and compatible with existing high volume fabrication process and 2) innovative integration solutions, allowing the integration of the nano-TE materials into highly efficient modules of the system-level demonstrators. Two types of TE materials are beyond the state of the art and have chosen for demonstrators. These two TE materials have been successfully integrated on three demonstrators and provide efficient cooling effect.

Results and expected effects

Consortium worked with each other and focused on demonstrators. Materials based on nanostructure developed and successfully characterized in Nanoteg. In addition, innovative thermal characterization methods, and advanced simulation techniques have been developed. The developed materials were selected and used in three demonstrators and the tested results showed that efficient cooling performance. The end users are very satisfied with the results, and looking forward to the high volume production of TE materials.

Approach and implementation

With nanostructured thermoelectric technology, we can reuse the loss of heat which contributes to better use of natural resources and resource-efficient society. By NanoTeg, we have created competitive industry clusters with companies and organizations which actively produce, analyze and uses of developed materials. For next step we are preparing for a new EU proposal for energy harvest also based on developing more advance TE nanomaterials. Some of the material providers, including SHT will set up volume production and plan to put the product within three years.
