Purpose and goal
By making it possible for students to visit the steel industry in their classroom, we have created interactive study visits with associated teaching materials. The students gaining more knowledge about the steel industry the visits also contribute to elevating the industry as future employers. Workplaces that were previously difficult to access for students can now be visited and explored. Even at an early age students can discover the opportunities and width of occupations in the steel industry. The goal is that schools will continue to use the material in their teaching.
Expected results and effects
We have delivered interactive study visits to a total of 6 professions which are divided into 20 stages with tasks for students to solve. During the project period FRiDA has tested the teaching aid with students and educators under 2019-2020. In the spring of 2020 we have conducted lessons with educators and students. The traditional prao was and is affected by covid the effect of this was that the Skolverket refers to the project as an alternative to prao. The national spread and demand has been large throughout the spring. Today the method is well established and used by schools around Sweden
Planned approach and implementation
The project has consisted of three parts. The first consisted of planning future production, all project parties were involved. The second part consisted of production, IVAR resources were loaded the most, but also Framtidsfröns. The third part, launch, started in 2019 on a small scale with one profession.Due to covid, the launch took place at a faster pace than planned as the demand for the interactive study visits was high. The consequence of this was that resources had to be prioritized in IVAR and Framtidsfrön. The result was that schools gained access to all visits earlier than planned
