Project duration August 2012 - March 2013

Purpose and goal

The aim of this work was to get a clear view of the present situation as well as of which direction the electricity business should take in the future, what obstacles and possibilities we face and what need gaps we can fill with future research and cooperation across the borders between academia and industry. This goal has been fulfilled accordingly. The next step is to create a platform from which we can initiate research projects and collaborations, and improve the transfer of knowledge between industry and academia.

Results and expected effects

The inventory work resulted in a number of ideas for research projects. These ideas will be elaborated into project descriptions and, further on, presented to the participants, who will then decide what project or projects they wish to participate in. We hope that these project ideas will, in their turn, give rise to new ideas for collaboration and that the project will accordingly develop in a somewhat organic way.

Approach and implementation

During autumn 2012, we undertook an inventory of opinions and insights among central operators in the Swedish electricity business by interviewing a number of persons within academia as well as the industry. The participants were asked to give their views on the development of the current Swedish system for electrical energy. The interviews were carried out in meetings or on the phone, and a few of the respondents gave their answers in writing. The interviews were recorded, transcribed and summarized. The summary was presented to the participants and their response was asked for.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
