Important results from the project

To develop an agenda / plan for the establishment (in Sweden) of a viable electronics hardware industry, based on Myfab and related micro / nano-laboratories. This includes both the start-up of new businesses, as well as new products and business opportunities with established companies. A company survey has allowed us to have identified value chains that are beneficial for Swedish companies. It remains, however, in identifying Myfab´s role and also to set up the strategy for industry development, which is planned for the remaining work agenda.

Expected long term effects

Cooperation between the seven Agenda projects has been established, of which ´Electronics Hardware in Sweden´ is one of them. The objective is to formulate a common Agenda that is planned to be completed in autumn 2013. A survey of electronics companies in Sweden has been carried out jointly. The Agenda´s goal and effects will present a comprehensive picture of the electronics companies in Sweden. This electronics industry works as an enabler in most other industries but is itself quite invisible in Sweden. One of the expected effects is visibility in Sweden.

Approach and implementation

We have, all seven Agendas, collaborated in accordance with Vinnova´s intension. Work has been done in a transparent manner with meetings of two kinds: first, with the steering committee, consisting of one or a few representatives from each constituent Agenda project, as well as workshops where also the Agenda projects´ reference groups attended (many industry representatives), and members of the Electronics and Photonics Industry Associations. All of this has been the basis for obtaining the status of the Electronics industry in Sweden.
