Efficient processes for the manufacturing and use of ceramic sustainable building materials

Reference number
Coordinator Porslinsfabriken i Lidköping AB
Funding from Vinnova SEK 50 000
Project duration September 2014 - December 2014
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The aim and purpose of the project is to develop efficient processes for manufacturing and use of ceramic building materials, e.g. ceramic veneers. Further, gathering architects, construction companies, property owners etc. to share needs and knowledge. Both the aim and the purpose was fulfilled during the time for the project.

Results and expected effects

At the start of the project the existing production equipment was not up to date and one of them (the owen) has been replaced in order to have a more efficient production in the future. In the long run the press- and the glazing technique also has to be improved. One important insight is that the factory needs to seek for contacts/business partners that can supply an assembly device for ceramic veneers, since the market demands a complete package.

Approach and implementation

The project was outlined as follows: We will visit BKR, SWEREA to create a dialog, discuss needs and knowledge that currently exist. We will arrange a workshop with BKR, SWEREA, architects , construction companies, property owners. Since the workshop will be at our factory we can show the participants what we can produce today and what we can do if we have a more efficient process for production. The workshop was a success and gave us very important knowledge of what is demanded by the market and what they would like to see in the future. Hence, a step towards a more efficient production process.
