Venture Challenge-driven innovation - Phase 2 Collaboration

Purpose and goal

The implementation of an advanced IT-cooperation platform was initiated for two value chains within different sectors; pharmacy and automotive industry. Owing to different constellations, situations and organisational conditions, these two value chains proceeded differently long during integration of a series of subsolutions within the platform. General concepts for tailored collaboration platforms were accomplished as well as general conclusions with respect to organization prerequisites.

Results and expected effects

High technical, ecologic and economic potential was identified by the different participating customers and suppliers through more effective collaboration with the two core companies. This was promoted and partially demonstrated by a tailored IT-platform. Simultaneously, the project results demonstrate that the implementation processes even bears increasing complexity in case of more comprehensive functions. This means a challenge for the organisations in the respective value chain.

Approach and implementation

The main work plan was followed while the prioritized subsolutions and customers/suppliers were occasionally updated. This depended on the daily dynamics at the two core companies. In contrast to usual research projects, here the demands of the companies to the universities were higher. This kind of implementation project also required more flexibility. Integration of the various subsolutions in the cooperation platform has progressed differently long, depending on complexity and priorities.
