Purpose and goal

SECREDAS (Cyber Security for Cross Domain Reliable Dependable Automated Systems) was a large European H2020 3-year project with 70 partners in 16 countries, including 4 partners from Sweden, that aimed to develop and validate multi-domain architecting methodologies, reference architectures& components for autonomous systems, combining high security and privacy protection while preserving functional-safety and operational performance.

Expected results and effects

As a result of our work in SECREDAS, RISE-SICS published three articles in peer-reviewed international conferences/journals, and contributed to the further standardization and development of security protocols tailored for IoT devices, notably with the IETF, and thus to the improvement of safety and security for modern industry and smart cities in Sweden and in the world.

Planned approach and implementation

In the context of SECREDAS, RISE-SICS proposed a new solution for IoT devices to securely connect to a Cloud server through a vehicular network. This solution, designed with a security-by-design approach, leverages open-source standards and protocols and has been formally analyzed with state-of-the-art tools to guarantee that it is secure against a wide range of attacks. Some elements of it have been implemented by collaborating partners in the project.
