Important results from the project
MDH´s long-term vision and goal has been to increase the penetration of high-tech solutions in European agriculture through concrete demonstrations. Thus, creating business value through solutions that have proven impact and are user-friendly (reduce perceived complexity) has been central. MDH’s Mission management tool (MMT) which is used to define and monitor missions, as well as control several autonomous systems, has played an important role in this context, for the entire project.
Expected long term effects
1) MMT has demonstrated how complex activities in precision agriculture, which also includes autonomous systems, can be defined. MMT also makes it possible to monitor missions that involve these plans being executed in autonomous systems while data is continuously collected from sensors. 2) Open Drone design showed how robust and cost-effective drones for data collection and monitoring can become an effective solution for even small farms. 3) AI algorithms have shown how complex agricultural processes can be represented and demonstrated in sharp problems.
Approach and implementation
Annual demonstrations have been a central to the project. Also, several online meetings and integration workshops have been organized. The nature of the project assumes a high level of digitization through the Cloud and distributed methods for data collection, processing, and presenting activities. This has facilitated the project work and made it possible to minimize the impact of the pandemic. During the project’s lifetime, even between the official tests, all 11 demos have been managed by the MMT. This has helped to monitor progression also wrt. integration and standardization.
