This collaborative effort would help in solving business models problems facing industrial actors within systemic transitions context. The overall purpose is to cultivate discussions, partnerships, and generate projects in order to develop future business models within new mobility area.

Expected results and effects

The lab has been a valuable source of knowledge, and networking on BMs. Academic and industrial BM insights have been successfully transferred to partners. The expected effect of knowledge transfer for partners is to successfully navigate complex transportation environments to scale up sustainable innovations. In addition to learnings, the lab delivered on its targets: two spin-offs and four scale up initiatives focusing on electrification, logistics, data, and light shared vehicles. These initiatives hold potential for future value generation through business modeling.

Planned approach and implementation

The BM lab progressed as planned. The method utilized to serve the goals is based on a mix of thematic workshops, interviews and use of various tools and methods (e.g. business model canvas & value proposition canvas). The Lab team conducted 6 thematic workshops tailored to tackle partners BM challenges. This included: mapping BMs and value propositions of the partners on COVID-19 pandemic impacts on current BMs, various post pandemic scenarios specifically focused on changing customer needs & value propositions, mobility data driven BMs, and BM ecosystem challenges.
