Important results from the project

The project wanted to find a suitable and sustainable material for its lid concept for takeaway mugs for coffee, and a partner who has the opportunity to manufacture its product. Ordinary lids close in almost all the aroma and taste as 80% of the taste "happens" in the nose. The Projects lid concept works with the nose being under the lid so you get a completely different aroma and tasty experience. The durable lids that exist today are experienced by many consumers as "saggy" to drink with, which holds back the desire to use these lids. Ihe Projects aroma lid means that the focus is on the coffee´s aromatic steam instead.

Expected long term effects

The projects end result has been to have found a manufacturer, Celwise in Norrköping, together with Wargön Innovation in Trollhättan. Celwise has a unique manufacturing process that is able to manufacture the lid with a sustainable friendly material that would suit the lid and its design. In addition, Celwise has both knowledge and interest in the coffee industry and its growth opportunities. The project have also done a test series in PP plastic to be able to try drinking with the lid, and the coffee experience will be wonderful. The Project thus also know that you can make the lid in PPL plastic.

Approach and implementation

Together with Wargön, the project investigated various sustainable friendly materials that can withstand heat and withstand moisture, and do not have any "own" scent. The next step was manufacturing. the project have been in contact with major manufacturers who show both interest and curiosity, but the production is more complicated with environmentally friendly material than plastic for the design of the lid. The project found Celwise in Norrköping, which can already manufacture the lid today, so it can reconnect with companies in the future. The project also made a beta test in plastic so people can enjoy the lid.
