Purpose and goal

The project´s aim is to concretise and make knowledge available about AI and service design for professionals, and contribute to a flexible and lifelong learning. Halmstad University has therefore developed a podcast-based MOOC. The podcast consists of 12 episodes that outline basic concepts, followed by how AI and service design can be used to create useful services. The course ends with an ethical reflection. The episodes are in English and each episode is based on a dialogue between two or three experts.

Expected results and effects

The project´s goals have been fulfilled, and the course has received a much wider distribution than expected. Since the course was launched in October, 1,750 downloads have been made, with listeners from all over the world. The reference group´s evaluation points out that the dialogue format with invited experts is appreciated, and that the flexibility of the podcast medium makes it easier for professionals to complete the course. All in the reference group stated that they would like to attend more podcast-based courses in the future.

Planned approach and implementation

The project has enhanced the university´s ability to deliver new educational approaches, as well as strengthened the collaboration between researchers in AI, service design and innovation at the university, which now offers more training efforts in data- and AI-driven service design. Several important lessons have been learned about practical production, which has equipped the university with both competence and resources in order to create new podcast radio courses in the future.
