Reference number
Coordinator MAESTRO MANAGEMENT AB - Roddarhuset
Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration September 2016 - March 2017
Status Completed

Purpose and goal

The goal was to bring together participants from all phases of the building process to create a new and all-digital ways to build houses. The assumption was that construction should be driven by 100% digital information and with maximal production of whole elements in factories, including the use of robots, 3D printers etc. This will result in lower costs, shorter lead times and allowing more innovative buildings.

Expected results and effects

1) A consortium has been formed to pursue a more radical digitization of the construction process. Members are SABO, Örebro Bostäder, Veidekke, Forsen Projekt and Cementat. The consortium has applied for funding under this program. 2) An overview of a completely new and digital approach to construction have been developed. This shows how innovative housing can be designed and the cost of construction can be drastically reduced. A separate report on this is enclosed. 3) The results have been communicated widely in the industry by the consortium of public events and in the media.

Planned approach and implementation

The project was implemented in three phases: Phase 1: interviews and workshops with representatives from all levels of the construction industry as well as from the IT and other industries. In total, about 70 people were interviewed or participated prior to or as part of the project. Phase 2: Summary outline of a new digital-based process. Phase 3: A consortium and the project was formed, with the goal to try out and introduce new methods and tools in the construction industry.
