Purpose and goal

Diabetesberättelser(Stories of Diabetes) was initiated to bring out much needed stories and experiences from the target group. The stories put emphasis on difficulties and challenges occurring living with diabetes and also give inspiration and motivation to lead a better life. The project goal was to create stories and a platform to spread them on. We also wanted to develop a method of recording and storytelling as well as research the needs of the target group. The project performed all stages and got the answers needed to carry out the next steps in the development.

Expected results and effects

The project gained over 100 expressions of interest from the target group. We met in person over 100 individuals and recorded 14 stories as video and/or audio. We spread the stories on social media were the target group naturally meets. The reception exceeded all our expectations and was overwelmingly positive. Well over 160 000 views on social media. 77% of the views were ages 13-35, and also worth mentioning is that 60% of the viewers were male but 5 out of 9 storytellers female (statistics from youtube).

Planned approach and implementation

The project focused on creating contacts with the target group throughout Sweden, record and spread stories and experience as well as starting to develop a digital platform for people to record and spread their own stories within the community. The tech developing and the ready made platform have created a stable foundation to spread wide in the target group as well as deploy method and platform to other patient groups.
