Important results from the project

The AHA II project aimed to develop a user-involving method to co-create design concepts for future mobility together with both public and private actors. In the project, two design ethnographic urban living labs were established where studies of local values, knowledge, practices and future visions became the basis for an iterative co-creative working method and two design concepts that are presented in the AHA catalog (https://aha2.hh.se/). The project has also developed a toolbox to transfer and scale up the working method to other contexts.

Expected long term effects

The AHA II methodology developed two design concepts - ´community value based travelling´ and ´pop-up mobility hubs´ which are possible to transfer and scale up to other contexts. The project´s focus on local values and ways of doing things emphasizes the importance of taking social sustainability into account in the development of future mobility. The project description in the AHA catalog and the accompanying workshop material are expected to enable other actors to take these perspectives in similar development processes

Approach and implementation

The AHA methodology consists of the following components: design ethnographic activities (ethnographic fieldwork and co-creative workshops with residents and partners), creation of design ethnographic trigger material from ethnographic insights and design ethnographic transformation tools based on analysis of the above components. Overall, the analysis contributed to an understanding of the social value of a trip that goes beyond cost- and time- efficiency as the primary goal of mobility development
