Purpose and goal
The purpose of the project has been to demonstrate how to reduce the load of nutrients in the Baltic Sea. The objective of the project has been to develop, verify, test and upscale the system for sediment retrieval in four areas; function, environmental impacts, quality of sediment fractions, and design of municipal systems. The project has essentially been carried through according to plan and with good results. The method is gentle on the aquatic environment and the system meets up to market requirements. A new enterprise has started up with a strong order backlog for the coming year.
Results and expected effects
The main result of this demo project is the start-up of a new innovation company. The company has already an order backlog and is now further developing the platform to fit more applications, from sediment retrieval in storm water ponds to seabeds. The demo project has been covered in media (SVT, TV4, Ekot, Jönköpingsposten, Nyheter P4 Jönköping, etc) which has helped to increase market response, also from Chinese parties. The positive response from local residents has also resulted in favorable political effects.
Approach and implementation
Innovation and development projects are difficult to handle. Thousands of details pop up along the path, at times impossible for humans to overview. Thus, it is imperative to create an approach that both will take the project across the finish line, and, will minimize the valley of despair after the project. One success factor in this specific project has been to create a strong customer focus throughout all phases. The project has had a continuous dialogue with a large number of municipalities, inclusive the participants all along. Thus, tactics, strategies and business come closer.
