Purpose and goal

The D3H project aimed to investigate how tools for dealing with disturbances can be digitized. To comprehend that, one must first understand the current situation and challenges that exist in industry. Therefore, the project mapped how the companies handle their disturbances and the various challenges that they face. At the same time, the possibilities that exist so that the process can become more data-driven were also identified. A digital and data-driven tool was developed which the companies can use to analyze disturbances.

Expected results and effects

As short-term effects it is expected the increase in OEE and in collaboration on disturbance management. These effects lead to higher competitiveness. The project contributed by identifying the current situation, recommending guidelines for improvement, and developing a tool for disturbance analysis. Among long-term effects is the creation of a disturbance-free production system. This leads to higher competitiveness and social sustainability. The various training modules that were created help to increase competence in the area so that the effects are achieved.

Planned approach and implementation

To achieve the project´s goals, the research group met weekly. In the meetings, the interviews were planned, data was analyzed, the content of the training modules was discussed, and the demo tool was developed. Every three months, the management team met to discuss the most important results and the project’s plan. The companies were visited every semester. During the visits, the companies were coached and interviewed. Each semester a meeting was also held with all companies to discuss, verify and validate the project´s results. Their feedback was considered in the final results.
