Purpose and goal

Develop business model (s) for ecologically and socially sustainable co-op takeovers of ponds and hyrdopower plants. By developing and testing a method for jointly taking over water infrastructure, the project aims to secure electricity production and at the same time strengthen Swedish rural empowerment and organization.

Expected results and effects

Our approach is to create legal frameworks and tools for economically sustainable takeover and operation of ponds and small-scale hydropower plants. Based on the value chains power plants and dams´, new business models and innovations can grow as a product the takeover.

Planned approach and implementation

Objective 1: Gain advanced knowledge base on ownership structures (eg organization, gender distribution), physical and natural geographical conditions, regulations and regulations and potential risks. Objective 2: Development of one or more business models for the take-over of ponds and hydropower plants based on sharing economics principles / cooperative models. Objective 3: Anchor the possibility of carrying out a number of cases with varying conditions in continuation projects.
