Purpose and goal
Future electronic systems are characterized by a high degree of integration and use of innovative manufacturing and design methods. In a time where much of the production is outsourced, it is of great importance for current and future engineers to keep updated about the latest construction and design methods. The goal of competence hub is to systematically identify and give an overview of Swedish and international expertise, lab resources and tangible results, such as components, tools, hardware platforms, which are used for the design of electronic systems.
Expected results and effects
Correct operation of electronic systems requires a holistic approach where no component can be optimized completely independent of the others. To design the future system thus requires a broad expertise that takes the limitations of the components and construction methods into account. This can be facilitated by strategic relationships with partners in various areas. The project aims to provide an overview of domestic and international stakeholders with expertise in construction methods, as well as present possible ways to initiate collaborations and form consortia.
Planned approach and implementation
A key to successful collaborations between industry and university is to understand the different actors´ incentives. The goal of the project is to list actors working in the field of design methods for electronics, and provide possible entry points for cooperation and funding. This includes research collaborations and calls on national and European level. Results and contact persons are reported on the project website and presented in appropriate forums such as the Scandinavian Electronics Event.
